Film StudiesBJM 270, Thammasat UniversityJournalism and Mass Media, International Program Film Studies is a fun class. I've designed it so that we spend the first half watching four star movies, and the second half actually making movies in the studio. We analyze movies interms of writing and production and then I let my students take a stab at it. The students, most of whom have no experience using the equipment, must do it all themselves. The class is in its fourth incarnation with some pretty fantastic results so far. |
Hand in Hand (2013)In this class we practiced shooting from different points of view. The director's POV, the actor's POV and more. The original idea came from a script written by Kusuma Tembungriat. |
The Pencil and the Eraser (2009)In this class we practiced shooting from different points of view. The director's POV, the actor's POV and more. The original idea came from a script written by Kusuma Tembungriat. |
Sisters (2010)In this class we practiced creating an insert shot. |
A Typical Lecture After four weeks in the studio doing only the 180° Rule, I decided to reverse the screen direction in a complex blocking shot so that we could shoot two sets of opposite over-the-shoulder shots. Luckily one of my students recorded the briefing before we tried it out. |
Us Three (2010) This was shot on the last day of class. The script was written by students the week before. We tried to shoot as much as possible, but we ran out of time. This is the only the first page. But what a great start! |
